Kathmandu valley prohibitory orders extended by a week
The District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to extend Covid-19 prohibitory period in the valley by another week.
A meeting of the district authorities held Tuesday decided to extend the lockdown until June 3 in a bid to control the surging spread of new and more virulent variant of coronavirus in these districts.
Authorities have, this time, decided to further tighten the regulations by not allowing even the grocery shops and department stores to operate. However, shops selling vegetables, gas cylinders, dairy and meat products will remain open till 9:00 am, according to a Kathmandu DAO official.
Earlier on Monday, district officials had issued a directive according to which, violation of Covid-19 protocol and hindrance to the implementation of the Covid ordinance are both punishable offences, subject to imprisonment, a fine, or both.
